Abid Laheri Memorial Tournament

Abid Laheri Memorial Tournament is a limited over tournament held every season at the Community Park, Hanover Park ground.  It has gained considerable popularity as teams from all Divisions from the Midwest Cricket Conference participate in this tournament. The matches are played on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 7:00 pm sharp.

REVISED 2012 RULES IN A NUTSHELL

  • Each team plays three games during the league round.
  • Rain out: All Rain outs will be continued unless 30 overs of the match is completed. After 30 overs the DL method will come into play.
  • Helmet with visor to be enforced through out the game when facing fast bowlers ( and when the official umpire deems fit).
  • No player transfer allowed.
  • All teams to complete playing roster on Midwest website before commencement of play.
  • All players must play one game to be eligible for playoffs. Regardless if they are an old team player or not.
  • 6 over power play with no players in catching.
  • Toss will be at 6:50 pm sharp.
  • 10 min inning break.
  • Top 8 teams enter playoff. Not 2 from each pool.
  • Playoff games to be continued from stoppage.
  • In case of a tie a Super Over is played for each team. In case of a tie in the Super Over another Super Over is played and so on. There will be no breaks between Super Overs ( only time required to wear the gear).
  • Regular MCC rule will be followed in order to get into the playoffs. Each team has to do 3 mandatory paid umpiring.

RULES & REGULATIONS

  • All games will be played under latest International Cricket Council (I.C.C.) rules and M.C.C. rules and by-laws. The M.C.C. rules and by-laws will take the precedence over I.C.C. rules. The only exception is that One-bouncer rule does not apply. All bouncers over shoulder height (with all regular constraints) would be a No-Ball.
  • Starting time shall be 7:00 pm. Each captain must submit a team to the umpire 15 minutes before the start and no less than 7 players can take the field. In situation where a team is unable to start the game on time, the toss will be awarded to the opposing team. Each team is allowed 90 minutes to complete 20 overs, with a fifteen minute innings break. Strict timings will be enforced and teams not complying will be penalized in the way of overs being docked.
  • If the game is not completed due to bad light or bad weather, the league will reschedule the game on a different night. The game will NOT start over but will continue from where it had ended.
  • All the games will be a 20 over match.
  • Helmet with visor for the batsman to be enforced thru out the game when fast bowlers are bowling.
  • The host team must have the ground prepared at least 15 minutes before the match time. It includes:1. Preparing the wicket
    2. Mark the boundary
  • No player transfer allowed
  • All players must play one game to be eligible for playoffs. Regardless if they are old team player or not.
  • Dl method used after one full inning and 10 overs for second inning. Otherwise continued,
  • Top 8 teams enter playoff instead of 2 from each pool.
  • Playoff games to be continued from stoppage.
  • In case of a tie a Super Over is played for each team. In case of a tie in the Super Over another Super Over is played and so on. There will be no breaks between Super Overs ( only time required to wear the gear).
  • Both teams must ensure that no trash is left behind. Failure to comply will result in $50.00 fine to the offending team or both.
  • All teams must refrain from changing on the field or in the parking lot. Failure to comply will result in suspension, fine or both.
  • Each team will provide 1 neutral umpire for 2 games during the course of the tournament.
